Tattoos used to be just a man thing, but today more and more women are getting inked as well. Females are just as daring as men when it comes to body art and modification. Many people opt for something small and delicate their first time around, and many times prefer it to be in an area that can be covered up if need be. Many employers require that tattoos not be visible, so larger designs may be hard to conceal. Pretty smaller designs can also be very feminine and sexy if placed in the correct location.

Some idea placements for tiny tattoos include the ankle or foot area, top of shoulder, wrist, pelvic region, nape of neck, hip, belly button area (this compliments a belly button piercing very well), under the ear lobe and top of breast. Don't put a little design in a large area of your body, it will make it look like it is floating in space and often looks unattractive. You want to make your tattoo stand out and be the focal point of the eyes.

Depending on what your interests are, here are some excellent ideas for a design. Flowers (not a bouquet, but a pretty single flower such as a rose, lily, cherry blossom, daisy, etc...), a small cute animal, a Chinese or Japanese symbol, dolphin, butterfly, cross, angel, fairy, star, heart, fish, sun or a zodiac symbol. This is just a basic list of designs that work great for small tattoos. Use your imagination to come up with a unique design that is totally you.

Just remember to take your time when deciding on tattoo placement and a design. Look at galleries and pictures to help you find one that you love. Small tattoos are very sexy and sensual and just perfect for the first time. Have fun with it and enjoy your new tattoo.
