Choosing Your Tattoo Artist

As tattoos become more and more popular, many people, especially women, have started to use body art as a form of self-expression. As women, we tend to look for meaning in our lives, and need to find way to express this. What better way than a tattoo.

The problem is where to put it. Do we put it out there for the whole world to see, or rather use it as a reminder to ourselves of why we have reached a particular point in our lives?

We all travel on different paths in our lives, and it is these experiences that make us what we are. What we do not want, is to forget these travels. Tattoos are a great way to remind us and to help us move on to new paths.

I personally would prefer smaller tattoos as a reminder of significant things that happened in my life, and not necessarily as a public display. With this in mind, I would prefer putting a tattoo either on my shoulder or my upper arm. These area's are usually covered and would be visible only to myself or to close friends.

Other discreet places I would suggest are the ankle or foot. Various designs could be used here like flowers, frogs or rosaries. A word of warning though; the pain levels in these areas could be higher than thicker fleshed areas.

If you are more daring, how about putting a tattoo on the lower back. There are really wonderful designs that can be placed here. These designs are very intricate, and are usually V-shaped to accentuate the female form. Designs for this area include Angels, Butterflies, lions, Insect Wings, Hearts, Celtic Crosses, Serpents, Dragons, Lotus and other flowers.

Think carefully what design you choose and where you choose to put it. Tattoos are permanent and will be with you for a very long time.
